What's New at UUSG
Peacekeepers to Appear at Unitarian Universalist Society of Geneva
International peacekeepers who have helped to resolve conflicts in Sri Lanka and in Guatemala will present a film depicting their experiences at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16 at the Unitarian Universalist Society of Geneva. Representing the Nonviolent Peaceforce Organization, Rita Webb and Ann Frisch used techniques for nonviolent communication developed by Marshall Rosenberg. Also participating in the program will be Thom Thomas, who will show a film providing an overview of Rosenberg’s approach.
The screening is part of the Friday Flick Series sponsored by the UUSG Social Justice committee the third Friday of each month at the church, 102 S. Second St. Visit http://content.uusg.org/friday-flicks/ for information about upcoming films and to receive e-mail notices of future programs.
Giving Locally
We invite anyone to join us on October 3 at 3pm at we prepare food for our local homeless shelter, Lazarus House in St. Charles.

September 21: UUSG Celebrates International Day of Peace
Peace Observance: Monday, September 21st
UUSG will join people throughout the world in celebrating the International Day of Peace on September 21st. The following events are planned:
10-11:00am Story Hour for preschoolers and their parents
11am-1:00pm Sanctuary open for noontime Meditation and
Peace through Justice Opportunities highlighted in the Common Room
1-2:30pm Commit to Knit (Shawls for peace) and/or
Listen to stirring peace sermons that have been delivered at UUSG
2:30-3pm Reading of names of casualties in Afghanistan
3-5:00pm Watch and discuss movies: “Afghan Stories” and “The Day After Peace”
5-7:00pm Sanctuary open for meditation and
Peace through Justice Opportunities highlighted in the Common Room
7-8:30pm Speaker: Kathy Kelly: “Eyewitness to War, Witness to Peace, at Home and Abroad”. Social
activist and coordinator of Voices for Creative Nonviolence, Kelly has organized and
participated in nonviolent direct action teams in Haiti, Bosnia, and Iraq. Most recently, she
has witnessed first-hand the effects of drone aircraft in Pakistan.
Service Schedule
The weekend of September 12 & 13, we will return to our regular 3-service weekends (Saturdays at 5pm, Sundays at 9am & 11am).
No Worship Service on June 28
Because of the Swedish Days Festival, we will not have a worship service on June 28.
Come by our booth at the corner of James and 3rd and get some pizza!
